Random Decimal Number Generator Online

The random decimal number generator is a free online tool on BetterBugs.io that generates random floating‑point numbers in standard, scientific, and engineering formats.

Generated Decimal Numbers

What is the Random Decimal Number Generator?

The random decimal number generator is a free-to-use online tool on BetterBugs.io that instantly generates floating point numbers within a given range. Using it you can generate decimal numbers in standard, scientific, and engineering formats.

It’s perfect for getting mock random floating point numbers while running scientific simulations, user-interface demos, software testing activities (to validate rounding, formatting, or testing sorting behaviors), and for several other purposes.

How to use the tool

Steps to use the tool:

Step 1:Add values for the following fields:
  • Min Value:

    Start values

  • Maximum value:

    End value

  • Number count:

The number of outputs you want

  • Decimal places:

    Add a number from 0 - 15s

  • Separator:

Select a separator between outputs; Options —> New line, Comma, Space, Tab

Step 2:Select output format:
  • Standard (1.234)

  • Scientific (1.23e+2)

  • Engineering (123e+0)

Step 3:You can also select/unselect the following options:
  • Allow duplicates

  • Sort numbers

  • Include negative numbers

Step 4:Hit “Generate” to get outputs.
Hit the “Copy” icon from the top right of the output box to use them. Plus, you’ve the “Clear” button to start over.
What are the use cases for the random decimal number generator tool

You can use the tool for:

  • Software Testing and QAGenerate mock data to test apps that handle financial calculations, scientific measurements, or any user inputs that require decimal values.
  • UI/UX prototypingPopulate user interfaces like dashboards, tables, and graphs with realistic-looking decimal data for client demonstrations and user testing sessions.
  • Validating data processingTest the functionality of algorithms for sorting, rounding, and formatting by providing a diverse range of random floating-point numbers.
  • Scientific and financial modelingCreate random datasets for simulations, such as Monte Carlo methods in finance or physics experiments where random variables are widely used.Create bulk JSON payloads to test system scalability and also measure response times under high data volume.
  • Educational purposesGenerate numbers for creating mathematics worksheets, programming exercises, or statistics examples for students and trainees.
  • Data anonymizationReplace sensitive numerical data with random decimal values to protect privacy while preserving the data structure for development or analysis.
  • Generative artUse the generated numbers as random inputs to control parameters like color, position, or size in algorithms that create digital art.
