What is the Image Resizer Online Tool?

The image resizer is a lightweight and free to use online developer tool that enables you to resize or adjust your image dimensions (width and height), image quality, and image format.

After resizing/adjusting images, you can instantly export/download them to your local system in any of these three formats: PNG, JPG, and WEBP. Plus, you can preview the resized/adjusted image in the “Preview” canvas before download. In the same preview area, you can also check the:

  • Output file dimensions
  • Estimated file size

The image resizing is performed locally in your browser and there are NO SERVER UPLOADS at all.

It's a free, open-source, and ad-free tool on BetterBugs.io that you can use for everyday image-related tasks, especially while working with image assets for software, websites, emails, social posts, product listing images, testing, and other general purposes.

You can tweak or use it based on your preferences, such as:

What are the use cases for the Image Resizer tool?

You can use the image resizer tool for everyday image-related tasks and software development workflows:

  • Preparing screenshots for bug reports and tickets:Resize debug screenshots, error modals, or UI captures to standard dimensions, optimize for WEBP or JPG, and embed them directly into Jira, GitHub issues, or Linear tickets without bloated file sizes slowing down reviews.
  • Optimizing images for responsive websites and apps:Batch-resize hero images, icons, or assets to exact pixel specs while preserving aspect ratios, converting to WEBP for faster load times in production deploys or preview branches.
  • Creating consistent thumbnails for docs and wikis:Shrink high-res diagrams, charts, or code screenshots into compact PNGs or JPGs for inline use in READMEs, Confluence pages, runbooks, or technical specs, keeping everything lightweight and attachment-free.
  • Generating test fixtures and mockups:Adjust image sizes and formats for UI testing suites, API response mocks, or browser dev tools previews, targeting specific file sizes to simulate real-world payloads without server uploads.
  • Prepping assets for email campaigns and newsletters:Compress product images, banners, or infographics to email-safe dimensions and quality levels (e.g., under 100KB JPGs), ensuring crisp previews across clients like Gmail or Outlook.
  • Standardizing social media and sharing previews:Resize profile pics, post images, or link previews to platform specs (e.g., Twitter cards, LinkedIn banners) in WEBP for quick exports during content creation or marketing pushes.
  • Fitting images into prototypes and design handoffs:Tweak mockup screenshots or Figma exports to match component sizes, add background fills for transparency issues, and download in PNG for pixel-perfect sharing with devs and PMs.
  • Reducing bundle sizes in static sites and PWAs:Convert and compress large images from CMS exports or asset folders into optimized WEBP/JPG variants for Git pushes, improving Lighthouse scores without build-time processing.
  • Quickly adapting visuals for presentations and reports: Scale down analytics dashboards, performance graphs, or demo captures for slides, PDFs, or chat threads, previewing file sizes to stay under Slack/Teams limits.
  • Organizing local image libraries for projects: Drag-and-drop resize inventories of icons, logos, or textures into uniform formats for sprite sheets, asset pipelines, or personal dev folders, all client-side for privacy.
  • Debugging and validating image parsing logic: Reshape test images to edge-case dimensions or compressions, preview outputs in-browser, and export to verify how your parsers, CDNs, or frontend loaders handle variations.
